Your Complete Innovative Guide to Earnings Season

Luke Lango

Earnings season has arrived – and thus far, it has not disappointed!

I'm sure you've noticed. A lot of companies are smashing first-quarter estimates. Amazon crushed estimates. So did Facebook and Microsoft. Alphabet absolutely won the season.

They aren't alone…

Through late April, about a quarter of S&P 500 companies have reported Q1 numbers. So far, 77% have beaten revenue estimates and 84% have beaten earnings estimates.

If those numbers seem high, well, that's because they are!

If those "beat rates" hold up, they'll be the best numbers on record (since 2008, when FactSet started tracking beat rates).

Even more impressive, companies are reporting earnings that are – on average – 24% above estimates… which would, yes, mark the largest earnings surprise percentage in history.

And, even further, most companies are offering upbeat guidance for the second quarter, too.

All in all, it's been an exceptional earnings season that broadly underscores what everyone has been saying for months: The U.S. economy is improving, much more quickly than expected, and analysts need to play catch-up with their numbers to account for this economic re-acceleration.

That's a good thing for markets.

So, to no one's surprise, markets are rallying. Over the past month, the S&P 500 is up more than 5%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq is up nearly 7%.

Our stocks have followed suit. Our portfolio is up nicely over the past month, with one of the major catalysts being a handful of strong earnings reports from our portfolio companies.

But… most of our companies actually have yet to report first-quarter numbers…

Instead, most of the companies in our portfolio will report earnings over the next two weeks. Considering what we've seen so far in earnings seaons, we are very optimistic. We believe those numbers will be very, very good, sparking some very, very big rallies in our portfolio stocks.

So, to get you up-to-speed on what has happened and give you a preview of will happen next, we have put together this comprehensive Innovation Investor's guide to the Q1 earnings season, complete with a recap of our portfolio companies that have reported earnings and a preview of the earnings reports in our portfolio that are on the horizon.

Click through to read the full report on what to expect when our companies report earnings. What you learn could make you a lot of money over the next few weeks…

Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Signed:
